Bladerunner
Fahrenheit 451 / They Live (couldn't decide but THEY LIVE is probably the greatest John Carpenter film, with the longest shoot for one fight in history)
Lord Of The Rings
Whatever Happened to Baby Jane
Shaun of the Dead
Buried (just come out - absolutely amazing)
Don't Look Now
Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark
Sunset Boulevard
Oldboy
And this was kind of interesting. Not so much the ten best as the ten worst films of all time! Probably the 10 worst monster movies ever made. I've only seen one though. The one with the giant ants. Not bad for an old film.

Good attempt. It's very intricate task to compare films of different era. As I am fan of scary movies my listing is as follows:-
1.The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
2. The Shining (1980)
3. Alien (1979)
4. Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
5. Paranormal Activity (2007)
6. Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
7. The Exorcist (1973)
8. Poltergeist (1982)
9. Friday the 13th (1980)
10. Nosferatu (1922)

So I’ve written two lists (neither in any order):
One for the ten greatest (IMO) and one for my favourite ten.
Top 10 all-time:
Citizen Kane (Welles)
8 ½ (Fellini)
Seven Samurai (Kurosawa)
Rashomon (Kurosawa)
The Godfather (Coppola)
Raging Bull (Scorsese)
The Seventh Seal (Bergman)
Schindler’s List (Spielberg)
2001: A Space Odyssey (Kubrick)
Dr Strangelove (Kubrick)
My 10 Favourite Films:
Mulholland Drive (Lynch)
Picnic at Hanging Rock (Weir)
No Country for Old Men (the Cohens)
Children of Men (Cuaron/Lubezki)
Oldboy (Chan-wook)
Alien (Scott)
The Barbarian Invasions (Denys Arcand)
28 Days Later (Boyle)
The Shining (Kubrick)
Blue Velvet (Lynch)
(Honourable mentions: Goodfellas, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, The Big Lebowski, Apocalypse Now.)
I’m sure you can tell by both my lists that I haven’t watched any Hitchcock or Leone before. Anyone have immediate recommendations for either of them? Once upon a Time in the West and Vertigo are the top two of my ‘films to see’ list.
