The movie opens upon Christian (Ewan Mc Gregor) , a young writer ,typing the story about his greatest love .
In 1899 Christian goes to Paris to pursue a writing career .
There he meets Satine ,a Parisian courtesan and Moulin Rouge star , at the peak of her career .

Shining directed by Stanley Kubrick , with Jack Nicholson , Shelly Duvall...

Basically unemployable Jack Torrence (Jack Nicholson) is thrilled to get a job as caretaker of the
Overlook Hotel . He , his wife Wendy (Shelly Duvall) and his son move there for the winter .
Before leaving , summer chef warns Jack that he may see scary things in the hotel
but that he shouldn't worry , because they aren't real...

If you like horror movies this is the one .

Here is another great movie...12 Monkeys

Director Terry Gilliam , cast : Bruce Willis , Brad Pitt , Madeleine Stowe , Christopher Plummer...

A fantastic view of a bleak future created by the outbreak of a virus in the year 1996 .
James Cole (Bruce Willis) is forced to travel back in time to periods between 1990-1996 to try to
discover who or what was responsible for the outbreak...

2 Oscar nominations .

Brad Pitt was brilliant , but he missed Oscar for Best Supporting Actor because of
Kevin Spacey and his Usual Suspect .

But I have to be honest , guys and admit that Brad Pitt was better even he is not on that list
20 Best Actors of All Time . Great performance .

This movie is great , thank's to two fabulous actresses , Bette Davis and Joan Crawford .

Robert Aldrich (1962) What Ever Happened To Baby Jane ?

Posted Image

Baby Jane Hudson was a renowned child vaudeville star because she was cute and perky .
Her older sister  Blanche , stayed in the background .
However , as the girl grown up , the roles reverse .
Jane (Bette Davis) becomes a has-been , and Blanche (Joan Crawford)  becomes a star .
This is hard for Jane to swallow .
One day , psychotic drunk Jane and Blanche are in car accident and Blanche is crippled...

Won Oscar for Best Costume Design .

:popcorn99:   I love Bette Davis .

Just my opinion, but I think The French Connection is 10 times the movie Troy is.

Raw edgy energy, great acting, great story, top rated car chase sequence next to Bullitt for the time period, and well all the awards confirm it.

Overall a nice list to pay attention to.

Here is one Akira Kurosawa movie from 1954 , Seven Samurai .

During the warring states period in Japan a village of poor farmers is repeatedly attacked
by a gang of forty bandits .
A young villager suggests they hire someone to fight the bandits which means hiring samurai .
The villagers don't trust samurai as their rapacious appetites can make them as bad as
the bandits and because they have little with which to pay them...

Great movie , if you like this kind of films .
Anyway , this one deserve a place among the other movies for all time .

:watchmovie:

I've decided to put An Officer And A Gentleman on the list even you don't like this movie .
Director Taylor Hackford , cast : Richard Gere , David Keith , Louis Gossett Jr.
Debra Winger , Robert Loggia...

Zack Mayo (Richard Gere  :) ) , the loner son of a hard-boiled , sailor father (Robert Loggia) ,

as the cadets say it , "get jets" .
Along the way , Zack befriended with naive Oklahoma guy Sid (David Keith)...

Won 2 Oscars : Best Actor in Supporting Role (Louis Gossett Jr.) and Best Music .

1992 , Chaplin by Richard Attenborough .
Cast : Robert Downey Jr , Anthony Hopkins , Geraldine Chaplin , Kevin Kline , Diane Lane ,
Dan Aykroyd , Moira Kelly...

Biographical film about the life and times of Charles Chaplin (Robert Downey Jr.) .
The film is narrated by older Chaplin and follows Charlie's life in England as a child and a teen ,
all the way his adult life in America .
Even though Charlie was an extraordinary filmmaker and actor ,
he was always haunted by a sense of loss...

Only nominated for 4 Oscar Awards .
Somehow Robert Downey Jr. missed that Best Actor Award . That's unbelievable , because Downey IS Chaplin . Look at this picture above .
His best performance ever . Shame on Academy , really . Just watch the movie .

LOL - what great timing with Mel being all over the news. Nevertheless, it's still a great film and we can all appreciate his work as an artist.
